I think you'll find that all factory wheels are made to center on the hubs; 
it's standard industry practice.
Now, if you had aftermarket wheels on those GM cars, then all bets are off!!

Also I've heard the "acorn" nuts do not center as well as the "Tapered" 
style like most GM's use.  Most GM wheels do not have a hub-centering 
method.  At least, my Beretta and my Camaro did not.
