tranny component Q's

Replace it! I had a clutch go in 3.5K miles because there was so much slop
in a good used tranny. I was not as mechanical back then, so a shop
installed the tranny. I went back after the clutch failed, and he was
pissed. He told me that I he would not replace it again, that I had torched
the clutch. I told him I had not...

Another 3.5-4K miles, it went again. I went to a different shop, and he
showed me why, that bushing was approx. a thrid larger on the inner
diameter, where the pushrod rides...

A machine screw the corect size, or a 90* pick can usually work it out...

Good Luck,
  David

It's a guide/bushing for the pushrod...

They do wear out over time, and the extra slop, causes leakage on the clutch
pushrod seal, and can cause premature failure of the seal.

I usually tap a screwdriver into it, and twist it out.

What is the little brass gear-looking thing that the clutch pushrod goes
through? How important is it to change this piece and how the hell do you
get it out? Thanks for any input :)
