snow chains/cables on a lowered car...

I'll definitely do that - sharing info is what this list is all about!

BTW: the instructions for the snow cables said they shouldn't be used with
"snow tires", supposedly because they are bigger than normal tires (!?!)
I have (studded) snow tires; I -know- people -must- be using chains AND
studded tires because its the law that you use chains here and lots of
people use studded tires. So it probably works but just wears faster or
has more potential to break and the mfr just doesn't want the liability
(or to honor the warranty) or something. I dunno, but I can't see a
p185-60-14 snow tire being larger than a p185-60-14 regular tire. I think
the instructions are must be on crack.
