16v Clutch Cable Binding? Stretched? Worn?...
and before you install that pupp in, get a nice product (not WD40) like
Prolong Luricant, and hose that cable holding it verticaly fromt hye top
until it soaks out the otyher end....
nice lubbed cable = longer life.

->My '88 16V 020 does the same thing (I think), with a relatively
->new 14000 mile clutch in it. I notice it gets worse as the car
->warms up. When both putting in and letting out the clutch, the
->pedal is sticky and the clutch moves in a series of small (or
->large, once warm), jolts. I can actually "hear" this
->"stick-tion". I halfway assumed the cable was doing this out of
->old age (don't know, it is likely original) - but thought it
->could be a situation of it being overly preloaded (is the housing
->adjustable, a la bicycle brake cable??? must be...). That would
->also be consitant with further decrease in performance with
->increase in temperature. So, for the price (???) and it's likely
->age, I will most likely replace the cable.
