Mk1 A/C vs. non-A/C heater boxes

Anybody know how different the heater box (the housing around the heater
core) is for A/C vs. non-A/C Mk1's? Is the heater core different? Is the
blower fan different? How about the air flapper thingies?

My car (I'm pretty sure) had A/C, but I need to replace the box that was
hacked-up from a half-assed roll cage installation. I'm not planning on
running A/C. Can I just get a non-A/C box and use my heater core and
fan? No?
