16v ignition questions

according to the Bentley, it goes to both. I don't know if it really =

Doesnt the idle switch go to the ecu and not to the knock sensor =
control box?
ECU uses it to control idle air stabilizer valve and for throttle =
kick-down if pedal is lifted and rpm >2000.

Hi all,
I'm in the process of converting to EFI on my '88 16v and want to =
retain the stock knock box ignition. I've pretty much got it all =
figured out except whether I need the WOT and idle switches on the =
throttle body. How do these affect ignition? Do I really need them =
connected to the knock box anymore? Also, where does the knock box get =
its power from? Is it from the ignition controller? I'm assuming that =
the ignition controller gets it's power from the hot side of the coil, =
but if I'm wrong, please straighten me out on this. If anyone has any =
suggestions or websites to help me out on stand-alone knock-box =
ignitions, I'd really appreciate it. =20
