Air Compressor - what to buy?
As someone else mentioned, you have to look at how
much power you have running into your garage. I think
the biggest compressor you can buy that runs on
110volts is about a 3 or 3.5 hp motor. It takes a
fuck of a heavy breaker to run it too. I have a
Campbell Hausfield 2 HP or 2.5 HP (can't remember) and
had to get someone to check the house wiring and
install a larger breaker to make it run in my garage.
I can't run an electric heater or heavy lighting at
the same time. Ultimately, to do an awesome paint
job, you need a 5 HP compressor to atomize the paint
properly in a professional paint gun. I have a
DeVilbiss professional gun and my compressor doesn't
put out enough air volume to do a perfect paint job.
I have to use a touch up paint gun to make the paint
look half decent. So, what I'm saying, get a
compressor with a 3 or 4 HP motor.
