Re: broken odometer

OK, here's the deal. I pulled it out again and checked all the
connections. They're fine. But, I did see a small scratch in the circuit
paper. It is small and between two of the copper wires but it seems to
be the only thing wrong. Also, the clock works and the blue light comes
on when I hold the high beams but then goes out when I let go. Would a
little scratch like that throw off the whole circuit? Something seems
strange about that. Today I went down to the dealer to see what they had
to say about it. The guy behind the counter was a total retard and
seemed to be in the wrong line of work. All he kept telling me was,
"Yeah, well I wouldn't know about that." Shouldn't a guy working in the
parts dept. of a VW dealer know about VW's? All that this dufus could
tell me was that a new circuit costs $167!!! For that much money they'd
better send me a case of Heinekin and a beautiful German girl in skimpy
leiderhosen to install the damn thing. Well, I don't mean to complain
but that is ridiculous. Anyway, some more help with this would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
