Hi,
Thanks to whoever posted the info on the black 16v sitting in a junkyard
in Hayward Ca. I looked it up in the yellow pages and it's 3 minutes
from my work. I now have a lower stress bar to put in on my 85. I also
picked up a TB from an Audi GT. 52mm secondary. Plus the upper oil
"shield" from the hydraulic lifter read of a fox. all for $25 :) I'm
happy.
Now my question is this. The rear brakes on the 16v are still there. I
was interested in putting them onto my 'roc. How difficult is this? I
tried to compare the two, from mental pictures, and from what I could
tell, the setup is pretty similar. But the brake lines looked different.
(attaches differently to the brake unit) The lines on the junked car are
cut so if I can't use my own, I'd need new ones. Also what would I need
to pull off of the junked car, Just the brake part, or the whole torsion
beam/unit thingie (yes that is the official name for it). I didn't take
the rotors off to get a good look, but it seems like it might be
difficult to get just the brake units off.
Also the base for the FUBA is still there. (not the antenna though) I can
imagine it easy to remove, but how hard is it to install. Is it
difficult to get the headliner off without damaging it. What should i
get off of the junk car in order to get the whole unit. Is it all by the
antenna base or is there something in the dash as well.
TIA
Jonas
85 'Roc
PS. For those interested in this car, The junkyard has put chains and
lock on the hood, so the engine compartment is pretty much off limits.
The interior is also all taken.
