Well, as is usually the case, the junk yard guy was shootin' from the hip on
this (and probably the "low mileage" part too). It turns out it's a 91
Passat, with an automatic, so I don't get the transmission. But the good
news is that I get ALL of the fuel injection and wiring harnesses with it,
and it's a 2 liter 16V, for $750. I couldn't turn that down. Now I'll redo
my 1.8 head with a Euro spec cam and all new guides and exhaust valves,
rebuild the bottom end with new rings and bearings, add a new downpipe from
TT, and I'll be ready to go. The Motronic fuel injection will be used to
feed my 2.6 liter Type 4 airplane engine that I'm building.
Thanks for the advice guys. You made me an expert on what I needed to do
overnight. I still need an 020 transmission case, if anybody has one they'd
part with...
