Timing the ignition: TDC's
That sounds about right to me. IIRC that will get the Hall sender connector at about 4 o'clock which give it some adjustment range without hitting anything.

everything is aligned?

If the mark on the camshaft pulley is aligned with the top of the inner timing belt cover, Figure 4-3, page 3-13 of the 85 and later Bentley, then the rotor should be pointing at #1.

Remember, also, that there are TWO TDC's....one is right, and one is wrong if you are setting the dist up to #1.
