Karl's new ride

So I met up with Karl tonight to check out his new 81S. Got to the sellers
house in Ogden and there was the first MK1 I have seen in UT. The seller
also gave him all these extra parts that were taken from a 78. Had just
about the entire car was in boxes. So the 81S had a bunk exciter wire so
Karl & I rigged up a wire that ran from the alternator up to the dash. He
then found keyed power on the fuse box and ran a second wire up next to the
first wire. Once the car starts he just had to touch the 2 wires together
to get the battery to charge up. Quick fix that will get him home till he
can repair the original wire. Car is in pretty good shape and has a
1.8L16Vwith a 7A tranny. The idle was hunting a bit but sounded good.
 Best part
was when the seller came out with the manual from the parted 78 and some
Bently manuals. Karl was gracious enough to let me have the car manual and
a 1980-1984 and a 1985-1993 scirocco manual. Hope you make it back OK and
thanks for the margaritas!
