Steering lock ?
Because both front wheels have built-in castor, they will each, individually, independently, faithfully follow the tow car.
If one "unlinked" wheel will turn, they both will. You really don't need them "in sync". They'll do far better on their own...it's called Ackermann.
If you'd like to keep them linked together via the steering rack, that's fine. But let it be for the right reason(s).

For a flat tow, where all 4 wheels remain on the pavement, it would
seem to be a better idea to keep the front wheels connected so
the two tires would be pointed in the same direction all the time.
I suspect it would also help going around corners, instead of having
each of them be able to twist free by disconnecting the tie
rods. That would make it more difficult to turn without
scrubbing at least one tire because it wasn't turning in sync
with the other side.
