Oil pressure switch

I agree with Jean_Claude that the control unit is a damn good bet to be the problem.
As far as the sensors on the filter mount, the larger one (hex just over 1" across) is the pressure sensor, and the smaller one, should you have it is the temperature sensor. The second pressure sensor (on mid 84 and later 8V's and all 16V's IIRC) is on the driver's end of the cylinder head.

That sounds also like the infamous "Oil Pressure Warning System
Control Unit".
It manifests itself in two ways:
   - oil light comes on
   - warning buzzer in the instrument cluster buzzes.
   Mine started with the light.
   Then the light was flickering
Eventually the buzzer started making noise.
I clued on what was going on when I banged on the dash in
exasperation, and the noise stopped.
It was bad solder joints on the abovementioned Control Unit.

The problem that I'm having is the oil warning light coming on. The oil level is fine and looks fairly clean on the dip stick.
