I agree with Nate:
 Have the deal done and the signed-over title in hand before you claim the car from impound.  
You may not even be able to get it otherwise!!

 My suggestion: tell the guy to GIVE you the car, and then you'll be responsible for claiming it.  Otherwise, he'll be responsible for a continuously-escalating storage bill that will soon reach a higher value than the car is worth (if it hasn't already!!)

  of this before but never researched.

  This car is white with some black striping.  It has the remnents of what 
  looks to be an "S" spoiler.  It has the same style wheels that the S came 
  with.  The seats are black cloth HIGH bolster with a quarteroy looking 
  material in the centers.  Whats the deal, what else can y'all tell me?  Il 
  post pics as soon as i can get em off my camera.  il also let y'all know how 
  much i end up having to pay.
