Flywheel Timing marks different?
Timing using the flywheel is such a major pain that I've foregone using that method, instead relying on the TDC marks on the crankshaft damper and cam belt cover (in conjunction with an adjustable timing light)....so much less frustration that way. (I think some very clever lister turned me on to that...)
Helps, of course, to mark both those marks with a carefully applied dab of white paint............... :)
You can also use the TDC marks on the cam sprocket and cam cover, but it is slightly less precise due to the greater distance separating those two marks and parallax is a concern.

Subject: Flywheel Timing marks different?
Why are the timing marks on these two flywheels not in the same place? They
both have the same P/N 027 105 273 except the one made in spain (red
marks). has the letter "C". the other one (white marks) I believe came off
my 1.8 16V engine.
