Misc 2L questions
Yes, any of the heads will fit on any of the blocks.
For an 8V the CR is determined by the pistons. i.e. the combustion
chamber volume is the same for all 8V heads. So, putting any 8V head
on a 3A will give you 10:1 and any 8V head on a JH will give 8.5:1
(please shoot me if the numbers are off slightly).
Putting an 8V head on any block with 16V pistons will give you a really high CR.
Putting a 16V head on any block with 8V pistions will give you a really low CR.
The 3A and 9A blocks are not the same, but the differences are minor.
i.e. the hole in the block for the breather is different. Maybe the
hole for the distributor is different.
But, all the major dimensions, bore, stroke, bore spacing, block
height, crankshaft and bearing sizes, connecting rods, blah, blah,
blah.
So, simply installing a set of 9A pistons in place of the 3A pistons
using the same rods, crankshaft etc. will essentially make it a 9A.
BTW, I just happen to have a set of 2.0L 16V pistons, 83mm brand
spanking new, sitting in my closet should you want to go that way.
Hint, hint.....
