I was thinking in terms of terms of pistons taking up more "space" in the
combustion chamber to make higher compression, and the fact that that would
lower the cylinders' volume...thus the amount "displaced" on each
stroke..but I guess displacement isn't affected by that....
Another reason why I don't build motors....oops

Did you realize any "worthwhile" performance gains?

short block is generally the same. I have one in my car.
Why would you loose displacement as a result of messing with compression??
Displacement is simply a function of bore and stroke and number of
cylinders.
