K, some confusion I have to clear up... I've always lined up the
crankshaft pulley "notch" with the intermediate shaft "dot", and lined
up the dot/line on the camshaft with the top of the valve cover.
Today, after a second all-nighter finishing up Sean's ABA/JH swap
(still haven't slept), after setting the cam timing I noticed that if
I lined up the flywheel TDC mark with the pointy dealie (hole in
tranny), the crankshaft pulley dot was left of the position it should
be, and the camshaft position was one tooth up. So, my question is,
is it more accurate to line up the flywheel at the 0 deg. mark, and
the camshaft mark on the valve cover (with intermediate shaft dot
roughly intersecting where it's supposed to), rather than the way I've
been doing it?
The top end felt a little soft, so I'm wondering if the cam timing is
indeed off... (I set the ignition timing to 6 deg - a little
conservative, but he doesn't have a knock sensor installed yet)
Thanks!
A very very tired - Mark.
