ok, so in answer to the questions:
like i said, i still have to settle with the ins co. ballpark is
probably $1500 or so. i know that's a lot for a junk car, but if you
re-read what's on it, it's worth it. you could certainly make money
parting it, if you'd like.
in answer to the other questions:
the motor/trans has maybe 50k miles on it.
the body kit is, overall, in good shape. the front valence got a
little banged up, but is useable.
ain't no way this is salvageable; at least certainly not worth it. 
the wheel got bent on my door from everything crumpling, if that gives
you an idea.
lafayette is probably 3-4 hours away, though i've never been.
