What the heck is going on? Bearing or CV Joint?
Last Update! Promise.
Since it was Friday and I have been working from rise in the morning
to the moment I crash on my pillow each day this week (not
complaining, work this hard means the checks flow consistantly) I took
the night off from writing reports and get out on the rocc and replace
the other bearing.
As soon as the hub came off I could tell I had the right one. That
inner race was nasty. Had a spot on it where it looked like it was
machining itself to oblivion. That is the good news. Trying to get
that inner race off the hub was a nightmare (have a hole in my
forehead to prove it.) Evidently at some point the bearing must have
locked and spun on the hub. That was one ugly piece of metal. I used
a stone wheel on the die grinder to get it to look decent. Got it all
back together and took it for a quick run around the block.
AAAHHHH!!!!! Just like the first time I drove my first Rocc. Makes
all the frustration worth the effort in the end.
Next on the list. Replace those ball joints no that they will be
wearing fast with torn boots, and then on to the suspension.
Thanks to everyone who helped with replys. You guys rock!! (pun semi intended)
