Problem with surging/hunting while driving

Check your grounding, it can be the source of many strange problems.  But can be an easy fix also.

Hi.

I have an '81 Scirocco 1.7 that often will pulse / surge
while driving?

It is less noticeable on acceleration but still there.
It really shows up after acceleration when trying
to maintain a steady speed.

The lower the rpm the more pronounced it is but I suspect
this has to do with the gear ratio/rpm.

I have just replaced the wires/cap/rotor with no improvement
in that area, although the car is running better overall.

Any advice is appreciated.
