Removing (&Replacing) Window rubbers
A good way to replace any window rubber is to install the rubber in place
around the glass.
Then, wrap STRONG string around the outside of that, in the outer rubber
channel into which the body metal fits. (Be sure to overlap the string by
6-12 inches where the ends meet.
It is best to have ends overlap at the bottom center of the glass.
Then, with you inside the car and a friend outside pressing on the glass,
start that piece of rubber onto the body metal first. Then, VERY SLOWLY
pull one end of the string toward the center of the glass while your friend
follows its path by pressing steadily (with wide open hands only) from the
outside.
The string will pull the rubber inside of the car.
The glass will try to rise, so the outside person has to push inward and
down to prevent the rubber coming off of the seam.
I've used this on other German auto window glass and it should work on
anything.
No sharp tools required, but it is always possible to push too hard and
break the glass.
Take your time.
