Checking Spindles

I have to agree, the u-clamp is actually just the right size for the
indentation on my jackstand. It seems much more stable there than any
other part of the car. Plus, I use the round jack point to jack with a
hydraulic jack, that too fits perfectly in the round part of the jack
(everything just seems too perfect). Also, I'm sure that area has to be
strenthened or part of the structural integrity of the car, I doubt VW
didn't mount suspension points to just sheet metal.
just my opinion,

I know that is the function of the mentioned bit on the body, but
putting
stands under those makes it a bit more wobbly in my experience. The
control
arm mounts, agreed are not intended as jacking point, but I think that
would
be the strongest point to put a stand under other than the afore
mentioned
bit... Not to mention, it is much more stable on a stand at the rear of
the
control arm...
My .02, interested who else has change? :-)
