trade-up Scirocco for Corado
If you are looking at it from a maintenance-cost standpoint, I would
agree with Brian. I currently have a '93 VR6 Corrado which is only
driven during the warmer months. I have had good luck finding parts
for the car, but nothing with the Corrado is cheap. Like most VR6
VW's, the Corrado has a timing chain instead of a timing belt, that one
part is approx $1200. Be prepared. Depending on how much of the labor
you plan on doing yourself, you can cut down prices, however the
Corrado is not nearly as easy to self-maintain as the Scirocco.
The Corrado does not handle like the Scirocco. Though not as agile as
the Scirocco, it does have excellent acceleration and highway handling.
You do not feel the road the same way in a Corrado as you do in a
Scirocco. At times, I do miss the feel of a Scirocco, but for the type
of driving I do (Interstate) the Corrado is quite comfortable and
responsive.
Good luck on your hunt! Have you looked at the Corrado Club of America
Web site yet? They have some good info.
