Thank goodness for jack stands...

I'm pretty paranoid after I dropped my 99 HeavyBeetle (yeah, I'm an idiot),
all four wheels had been off, and the car was on railway ties (all four
corners, in the correct locations), then I lifted slightly on one corner
after putting both back wheels on. In slow motion, the whole thing slid
sideways (like how I imagine the "life passing before your eyes" thing would
be.) It came to rest on the two front rotors and the oil pan. The real
kicker was - not only was there no clearance for a jack, but that the one
side of the car was inches from the concrete garage wall. So I use a lot of
extra blocks and stands, just in case. And use the jack to lift it onto the
jackstand. The Beetle survived, amazingly.

How many lives is that Ron? I'm thinking these cars have a contract out on
ya! (Glad you're still around BTW) With Klaus, I'm a bit more relaxed
anyway, I can crawl underneath in most spots with no jack, he sits so high
up. Not so with the headache, but she wouldn't kill me immediately, I'm sure
she'd make me linger a while just for spite.

Rocco content? Exhaust swap from 80 to 79 complete, lower 16V "K" bar
installed on the 79, and the 16V's rattly baffled Dynomax sitting in a box
ready for exchange on warrantee. (three Roccos, three pillaged exhausts.)
No cars were dropped. And some nice new weather stripping on the Wind Tunnel
doors, there's not so much wind in there now. Next up is relaying Klaus'
headlights, and putting the 80's Hellas in place of Klaus' sealed beams.
Light work, literally!
