The only advice I can offer is....

If you feel obligated/pressured to sell a Scirocco in order to pay for
your honeymoon, then call of the bloody wedding and keep the car!

(sorry I can't offer any advice on the Mk1 fender issue, although you
might want  to post the same on the Scirocco list.)
