(ot) i fought the law and the law won.
Here's my take on it.
I have several tickets against me which I got out of ( even several
speeding tickets which were enough to lose my licence about 5 times over
!)
If u have a rough idea how the system works u can get away with a lot of
stuff!!!
This one time a power trippin cop pulled me over and issued me 5
Tickets!!! (speeding - 3km/h over limit, Improper muffler, burnt out
tail light, Noise polution - even though I didn't have my stereo on, and
last but not least he gave me a ticket for not having my seatbelt on -
even though I had it on!)
Took him to court and pointed out to the judge that how many ppl get 5
tickets one after anoather in 1 night??? He sorta stared the cop down..
then he looked at me and asked to state what the tickets were issued
for.
I told him and then he looked at the cop and told him to stop wasting
ink and paper on stupid charges. All the charges were voided and I went
home ticket free, even though I spent 3 hours at court house.
After a couple of days I noticed the same fucker runing the light by my
house. First I said whatever and then a couple of days latter I noticed
him do it twice more. That's when I called the station and I reported
him.
And heres a funny thing, if they don't have their light on they are same
as us, just a civilian at work! So if they run a red light without
having their christmas lights on they can get ticketed just as we do :)
A couple of week later I get ticketed for doing 115km/h in a 60km/h
zone.
I took it to court again and I asked to see calibration papers on the
radar unit. And here's anoather lil trick!
There is a 6 month re-calibration policy on ALL RADAR units! So if the
radar is out of calibration ticked is NFG :)
Again radar was past its schedueled calibration date by 1 day! Ticket
voided again :)
At this point the cop hated me. He started folowing me around town and
tried to start shit with me. I got pissed and called the station and
reported him to his sargent. And then latter on I guess he got fired.
Beware though ..
They might be different laws where u are so make yourself a favour and
read through them till u have a pretty good idea of what is going on.
Then if u want u can contest all tickets issued and win.

In cases like this the judge has to consider motivation;
You are motivated to maintain your innocence.
What was the motivation of the officer to ticket you? He is, in
essence, an unbiased third party (i.e has nothing to lose or gain by
ticketing you), so his word carries greater weight than yours.
That's the way it works. Ya' done good in getting the fine reduced.
As an old fart, I say "turn it down a decible".

well, finally had the bench trial today for my stupid loud stereo
ticket.
i actually did real well, and got the officer to admit that the
distances he
heard the stereo from were approximated and that he had no real way of
measuring how loud the stereo really was, but i still lost. the judge
was
real cool and told me i did a great job for someone defending
themselves,
but that what it really boiled down to was that he was going with the
word
of a experienced police officer over mine. he only fined me $25
though, so
it was well worth the risk. it would have been $110 just to waive it.
i
still have complaints though, there was no way my car stereo was to
loud,
and the officer basically admitted that it was just his opinion that
it was
too loud and yet i lost anyways? i thought there had to be some
measure of
proof? i mean afterall, i think he's guilty isn't grounds for a
conviction
for anything right? oh well, what can you do.....
