OT kinda......still VW though!

On the intake manifold you can do one of three things. One is to extrude
hone a 1.8L intake, you can use a 2.0L 16v intake which flows about 7% more
(42mm as apposed to 40mm intake runners) or you can put out the bigger bucks
to get a euro manifold which for an A2, they aren't as expensive as an A1
(Scirocco). Probably half the price if you shop around ($200 - $300+).

As far as the TB goes, the stock 16v TB flows better than the Nospeed or
Audi 5000 TB (same exact thing) and the Webber is questionable. It does
take a little getting use to but if you put a big return spring it makes it
easier (on the Webber TB). Don't shuck out mega bucks for the Nuespeed
though, not worth it, even on an 8v as you can port the intake and slap on a
Audi 5000 TB with better performance than the Nospeed with the adapter
plate.

Flow is nice but it doesn't up the compression as the valve timing will only
let in so much unless you do this with a cam even then compression upping is
questionable (probably get some but not much). What he needs to do if he
truly wants mass CR is to mill the head down to it's limmits. I think it's
something like 40 thousandths but the machine shop will know where the limit
mark is (hard to explain). I have heard (only heard) that you can go past
the limit mark but you will definately have to move the t-belt tensioner
bolt on the front of the head as the t-belt won't tighten (had mine milled
to the limit and could swing the tensioner around full circle--any more and
it wouldn't tighten enough!!).

HTH!!

A freind of mine asked to find some stuff out for him......
He's building up a 2L 16v for his MK2 golf. And want's to go high
compression, N/A.
Basically I just want to find out what's out there for big ass 16v TB's and
intake manifolds.
I know weber and (shudder)neuspeed makes TBs. But I'm not sure about intake
maniflolds.

Thanx
