Rear caliper upgrades
90 Passat rear calipers look to be the same as the later style A2 from the
data in ETKA. i.e. they will bolt up but the bleeder screw will be on the
bottom and it looks as if they also feature the patented e-brake lock
mechanism!
As far as A4 calipers, I think they should not be mounted in a Scirocco
because the piston is much larger than stock or even A3 calipers. I don't
know piston diameters off the top of my head, but IIRC the piston area was
~33% greater that stock. So, 33% more rear braking force. Too much IMHO. I
know a guy that is running these on a Rabbit GTI and he is using an extra
proportioning valve in series with the stock proportioning valves to get the
pressure low enough so he doesn't constantly lock his rear brakes.
I think the piston is just too damn big.
If you have the passat calipers and they work there's no downside to
installing them. I didn't have any working calipers, so went with the A3's.

Need to come up with a name for my POS/PITA 16V.
