I said it goes to the coil when I should have said to the ignition =
system. I looked it up in Bentley. For an '80/'81 it is black and goes =
to the 15 terminal of the coil. For a '83 it is red/black and goes into =
the fuse box at d24. Out of the fuse box at b8 then to the ignition =
switch. It serves the same purpose of insuring that the ignition gets =
full voltage when the starter is draining the rest of the car. Check =
your Bentley for the exact location of the wires in your car. If you =
don't have one (heaven forbid) I'd be happy to look it up for you.=20

Where on the coil would this wire go?

That often supplies supplemental voltage to the coil during starting =
when the rest of the system is being drained. Makes perfect sense that a =
diesel starter would not have this. However you should be able to swap =
in the old solenoid and get that terminal back.

Anyone know what the second spade terminal on a 16v starter does? =
Josh conner is having me post this becouse he's a lazy scmuck. He's put =
a diesel starter in the car and has discovered that it lacks a male post =
to hook up the second spade connector.
