To each is own, I guess. Being a tech for the last 15 years is nothing I
guess. Pull the head, waste you time, I don't care! But, if you actually
think about for a second then you would know that a tiny small shaving of
aluminum will not withstand the heat of combustion or to any damage to a
steel heat treated cylinder wall and rings. I could understand if your
talking about a piece of spark plug or a small steel nut but we're talking
about tiny aluminum shavings. Fishing them out is cool and I respect that
idea but you still won't get them all. Having done this many times I can
tell you that there was no damage and the vehicles ran fine. I have seen
damage to pistons and cylinder heads but not any caused by a tiny amount of
tiny aluminum shavings.

is a recomended procedure for plug threading with the head in place but I
would think that leaving bits of metal in ones combustion chamber is simply
asking for disaster.
