Changing the Title

Hey all!

Been busy doing GOBS of stuff lately and finally found out (thanks whoever posted the free carfax link) that my car is clear!!!  What I mean is that I got a Scirocco from Decker this spring and found out that the car is registered a 79 but actually an 81.  I ran the right vin number and it is clear, not stolen, etc. etc.  BUT, now I have to decide whether I want to try to re-register it as an 81 or to just leave it as a 79.  The real iritating thing about this is that the guy who did this stuff to the car ripped the sticker out of the door jamb!!  He tried to scrape the vin off of the rain tray but you can still make it out.  He did swap the dash from the 79 though.  

Anyone have any thoughts on this??  Will the DMV/DOL mess with me because the title is lost??  I can't believe this guy went through all of that work to register a cleared car!!  Idiot!
