Being screwed by the police
Call the main office for his department and find out who his supervisor is
and talk to them. We usually are required to turn in our reports within 24
hours, but we are often allowed up to 48 hours if we take a call late in the
shift and it's time to go home. It varies by department policy and there
isn't an actual "law" that says reports need to be finished in any certain
amount of time. My department did recently fire a rookie cop for holding
reports for weeks before turning them in. I mean, sometimes you need more
info to finish a case, but weeks? Come on...
