Tickets for traffic offenses are usually issued on the spot. It may be
that he is not going to charge you at all. Maybe you better stop calling
the cop so he doesn't get annoyed and charge you because you kept
calling. If something actually is in progress, it is very difficult to
have any influence on the process. Just wait to see if you get
charged. If you do, get a lawyer. Heck, you (and your friend) may have a
claim against the city for the 8" deep hole that caused the loss of control.
