16v springs on an 8v rocc?

Anybody know any serious detriments to mounting lowering springs for a 16v 
on an 8v?  I've got intrax sport lowering springs for the 16v on my 8v.  The 
only thing I've noticed is I've got some travel when I hit bumps that wasn't 
there with stock springs.  Some people tell me I don't have the shocks to 
handle the stress, that I need a complete coilover kit.  I was thinking more 
in terms of perhaps its not the right spring ratio for the car?  I'm doing a 
16v swap soon, perhaps this might fix this problem?
