2.0 running a little hot
Someone else had the same problem and it was an air bubble. Did you fill
through the upper rad hose??
I realize that the 16v run a little hot and all but when I had my 2.0L 16v
Rabbit I had a hard time getting it to run at optimal temps, meaning that it
would run too low! I even went to the 195 deg t-stat to solve the prob.
If it is running warm at an idle, I'd check the fan or fan switch if it's
running hot while going down the road then it could be the t-stat, leaky
reservoir cap (not keeping the press. high enough), a small pin hole leak in
the system somewhere, plugged radiator, air bubbles, bad water pump
(propellers corroded off--very rare), timing off (although it would have to
be quite a bit off) or something a little more serious like headgasket or
something. Hopefully it's something simple!!
