16V Upper stress bar, eating crow

I believe that you will have the same problem with a 16v...I put a 16v
into my 81. I tried to buy when from Potterman with the rest of my
suspension, he told me it wouldn't work with the conversion...I think
you would need an Mk1 upper strut mount...It should work with an 8v...

I must apologise for a statement I made a few weeks back when this topic

came up. I have a nice new (to me) Eurospeed 16V stress bar and have 
discovered that in fact it DOES NOT fit over an 8V engine, not in a MkI 
anyways. It will fit over the Rabbit's diesel engine, and perhaps that
extra 
bit of metal / deeper fenders issue Mark and I have been discussing is
part 
of the reason, but it just does not clear the throttle mechanism as some

astute listers pointed out. I'm sorry if I mislead anyone.
So I am left with what to do with the bar, either give it to my son as a

Christmas present, or "borrow" that 2L 16V he left laying around, what
to 
do, what to do...
