Rpm at 70mph
my '87 16v (stock except for 195-50x15's) indicates 80mph at 4000rpm. Timing the car over a measured mile, however, has proven that this "80mph" is actually a true 74-75mph.
Does that cloud the issue sufficiently? :)

Actually a stock AGB turns 3800 to 4000 at 80MPH.
