Sorry, Chris, but if you lower your Scirocco 1.5" by changing springs, =
you will give up ride qualities. :(

Here's why: if you take 1.5" out of your suspension travel and run =
stock rate springs (to keep smooth ride), you will bottom out the =
suspension more frequently. This can be both uncomfortable for you and =
harmful for your car.
  If you increase the spring rate to stay off the bump stops, you will =
have a much stiffer ride (stiff springs =3D stiff ride).
There is no free lunch, everything you do to your car is a compromise. =
You must decide; nice ride or lowered car.
Decide on the priorities.

  Hey all my Mark 1 Scirocco brothers and Sistas (if there are any), I =
am=20
  looking for user info on Suspension Springs for my 79 Scirocco. I =
want=20
  a sport spring that will lower my car at least an 1.5" but want to=20
  retain a decent ride. Springboards and bricks are not my thing. =
There=20
  has to be a good company or two that handles well without the =
brutality=20
  of a high spring rate. Please email me with your ideas and what you=20
  have used on your cars. Keep in mind this car has a 1.8 16V, Lower=20
  stress bar, front sway bar, and the rest is stock at this point. I am =

  getting close to putting the 16V brakes on my car and want to do =
springs=20
  and shocks fairly soon.

  Thanks

  Chris
