Mk 1 has the shakes

Ok. I think the rattle is seperate from the shakes.

Does your steering wheel feel the shake? If so there are a couple of things
to try.
1)Wheel bearings. Go wheel to wheel. grip the top of the wheel and push in
and out. There should be no play in the movement. Do the rears as well. I
had mine die and it caused a shake as well.
2) Check your tie rods. Look at the place the sections join. Have a friend
turn the steering wheel a bit. Look for any movement from the tie rod ends
and the shaft.
3)Check your wheel weights. Lose any?

Good luck and remember, your not supposed to be doing 70 :)
