8v Distributor woes...



It's easy to check if the ignition is advancing using a timing light.
Disconnect the vacuum line and rev the engine and watch for timing advance
with the light.
Then holding the revs just a little above idle (to open the throttle body
idle switch), suck on the vacuum line attached to the knock box and, again,
see if it advances.
As far as whether it detects knock, I know of no test, although it should be
pretty clear if it pings or not on high load medium revs.
