(Semi-OT) Help me choose a new car

So since I moved to Orlando recently, and gave my brother my 
scirocco, I've been in the market for a new one. My mechanic has 
these two options:

1982 Scirocco 8v. 162k, runs strong, looks great (gold), mono 
wiper, no sunroof, gold plaid seats, one minor scratch about 2 
inches long above the driver's front wheel well with a little rust 
on it.  Over-all a really nice car for the price : $1500

1988 Jetta GLI (16v): Couldn't see the mileage, unfortunately, 
real recaro seats (need refinishing), beautiful BBS rims, MFA, 
grey, nice overall, a tiny rust spot, but only surface. $2500

Which should I choose? (Though I have an idea you guys will be 
slightly biased toward the rocco, as I am ;) )
