what did i do now????

i took the rocco out for a lil' spin last night before it started to snow, 
you know; one last run till spring. anyway i ran her pretty hard for about 
45 mins or so before bringing her back to the shop for the winters nap. 
well, after i parked it and got out i saw that i wasn't quite where i wanted 
to be, so i jumped in to move her back a few more feet and she wouldn't 
start. i cranked it a couple a more times and bang!! there was a tremendous 
backfire. enough of a backfire to shoot my stock muffler and lil' pieces of 
catalytic converter guts accross the floor and completely blow out the flex 
joint on my dp! she runs fine today, just loud as all hell. so what was the 
probable cause of the backfire? any guesses? would a backfire that big cause 
damage internally? tia
