Anyone convert 4 door front seats to 2 door?

Dumb solution:

Remove back seats, and install speakers.
Have friends take the bus.

My friend Sean just picked up a nice 1988 2 door Jetta that had 1998
seats installed.  The only problem is, they're from a 4 door car, so
they don't "swing" forward.  Needless to say, this is a major PITA -
you have to move the seat forward on the rails, and then crank the back
forward to get access to the back seats...

Anyone have a solution to this?
