just make sure they dont pinch the return line when they reinstall the new tank. this caused me to go through 2 fuel pumps and other crap by the time i realized what was up.

Subject: Scirocco recall
I want to check the fuel tank on my 1987 16V for the recall.
The PO (2nd owner) was no help. The dealer that sold the car was no help. VWoA was no help but they did give me a reference number and told me to take it to the dealer.
The dealer service manager ( not a bright one) told me she will order the tank and "bring the car in to replace it".
the tank is not leaking. But i doubt the dealer will be able to test its integrity, they need a special tool that was loaned by VW to them back in 1991.
I heard a lot of horror stories of stealership service and replacement of the fuel tank is bit tricky. Axle has to be dropped , dissconnect brake lines etc.. I don't want to pick up my car in bad shape, and definitely I am not paying for
any replacement parts if they break anything.
Anybody has any experience with this matter?
