Back when I did the swap into my 16v, I installed a short shift kit =
(actually, Raffi did most of the work! ;). But the tad =
out-of-adjustment it's been in has now begun to wear on me.
Imagine your hand outstretched straight in front of you with you thumb =
pointing straight up to the sky what would be "12 o'clock". Rotate it to =
the right with your thumb now pointing to "1 o'clock". That's the way my =
shifter seems to be aligned. 1st gear seems to be right in between where =
1 and 3 usually are. And reverse I right in between where R and 1 =
usually are. I can even get the car in R without pushing down.
This alignment makes it difficult to engage 1st (the way-low engagement =
point of my newly installed manual clutch cable doesn't help either) and =
downshift into 2nd.
I imagine it's just the matter of a small adjustment of the main "elbow" =
one way or the other. But can anyone tell me which way and how much =
according to my symptoms? The less time I have to spend tinkering with =
it the better (my fianc=E9e's got me on a tight schedule this weekend =
with wedding stuff! :)
Thanks in advance! Jeff
