Hey George, sounds like you've got the same project going I do (well,
almost. I'm not going all the way down to "bare unibody"). I'm trying to
restore/improve my '81 S. So be prepared that whenever I check your progress
I'll probably be emailing you with a "hey! where'd you get that?" email
:).... especially for the wiring since I've gotta try and figure that out
too.

Greetings nlowe...and others.
I'm also a new scirocco owner who will be beginning restoration on a '81 S
in the coming weeks. From my initial inspection, the cars body is very
solid and should be a great foundation for my planned "frame-off" errr "bare
unibody" buildup. It has a running '84GTI powertrain and a pretty complete
interior. It needs some TLC and cleaning, and some cleanup on the wiring in
the engine compartment. I'll be learning a lot on this project, for sure.
I'll be keeping a weblog of my progress and if anyone's interested, will
make my updates there. I'll post the url asap for those interested. I've
already learned a lot from the list via lurking the past 6 weeks or so, and
I hope to share my experience with the other newbies alike.
I'm in Charlotte, NC, so if any other listers are nearby, sound-off.
Regards,
George
