tire recommendations?

noticed that the rear tires are hurting on my old rims; fronts look ok (avs 
intermediate).
1. do they still make the avs intermediate? where can i get em? couldn't 
find on tire rack, dtd.
2. if not, what are you guys running? looking for cheap (relatively), 
high-perf tire for aggressive street/some autox duty. something equivalent 
to the avs intermediate i guess. if i can get a more expensive high perf 
tire that wears longer, i'd do that.
