High Voltage Coil for 16v

Based on the testing info in the Bentley, 16v ignition systems are supposed
to have high output coils. The resistance across the secondary winding in
an 8v coil should be around 3500 ohms. On a 16v, its supposed to be
6500-8500 ohms. I ordered a new coil from Potter and guess what? They're
all the same now (3500-4000 ohms). I'm thinking I might just have to go
with an aftermarket coil even though traditional thought is that there is
no reason to mess with the stock system.
Thoughts?
